Get ready for a magical early morning adventure to Mount Bromo and the enchanting Madakaripura Waterfall! Our friendly and experienced driver will pick you up around 11:45 PM from Surabaya or Malang (hotel, airport, or train station). The journey to the Bromo area takes approximately 3 hours. Once we arrive in the highlands, you’ll switch to a 4WD Jeep to begin the exciting ride through rugged terrain and volcanic sand. Your destination is the sunrise viewpoint — the most iconic spot to witness the beautiful sunrise over Bromo.
As the sun rises above the misty horizon, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of Mount Bromo’s active crater, the majestic Mount Semeru (the highest volcano in Java), Mount Batok, and the vast Sea of Sand stretching below. After sunrise, your adventure continues across the Sea of Sand toward the base of Mount Bromo. From there, you can hike or ride a horse up the slope and climb the stairs to the crater rim, where you’ll feel the warmth and energy of the active volcano. Before heading to the next destination, take time to explore Luhur Poten Temple, a sacred Hindu temple nestled in the caldera. You’ll then enjoy a warm, traditional Indonesian breakfast at Lava View Restaurant. Next, we’ll drive to Madakaripura Waterfall, one of the most stunning waterfalls in East Java, located in the deep green canyon of the Tengger mountains. After a short trek through a forest trail and wading through shallow streams, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the towering waterfall that cascades down from a height of over 200 meters. It’s said to be the meditation place of Gajah Mada, a legendary military commander from the Majapahit Empire. After enjoying the waterfall, we’ll begin our return trip to Surabaya or Malang in the early afternoon.
